Out with the old and in the with the new. Or out with the black and in with the colour, would be more specific. As somewhat discussed previously, I am kinda over black. I unconsciously wore it and pretty much only it for so many years and only after realising it was quite draining on my face did I pull away and start making a more conscious move towards colours - be they bright or subtle. They're a lot less heavy on the eye and I find them so refreshing to wear. Why I abandoned them for so many years is beyond me. I guess I just got stuck in a rut.
To add to my newly colourful wardrobe, Nour Hijab (a West Australian based company), sent me a couple of their latest pieces - the Adriana abaya and a matching hijab that I had my eye on for its bright splashes of neon.
The abaya was custom made to my measurements so I got a perfect fit - perfect width, perfect length, you get the point. The dress has a slight flare to it that elegantly swings around your body as you move. It's quite ladylike in that regard.

The only thing I am not a massive fan of is the slight puff of the sleeves at the top. I'm already broad shouldered so I tend to stay away from any design embellishments in this area because of this reason as they just end up widening my shoulder area. My shoulders & hips are in proportion so it isn't a major thing but I do try to keep away from anything shoulder related to ensure a more streamline silhouette. I don't think it looks bad on me - I guess I'm just more aware of it than anything else. If you haven't got a broad frame then I don't suppose this design feature would bother you at all. It's a very feminine addition to an otherwise simple garment and would definitely give a little shape to more petite girls.
In general, I adore the simplicity of this design because it means it will go with pretty much anything I throw at it as long as it is colour complimentary. I've been on the lookout for a feminine dress like this for the longest time and am so happy I got my hands on it. It's got this modern Amish hint about it that I adore. I think it's the cut - so simple, demure and feminine.
Weather note - Perth is basically desert temperature at the moment and I wore both of these out in the sun and survived the heat. Such a great lightweight fabric for summer!
The laser cut lace shoes, a recent purchase, are so damn comfy. I've never had heels before that I could actually walk around comfortably in for a long time. I even go grocery shopping in these babies because they are so comfortable. They're not too high either, which helps.
