Lace. It makes me think of ladies of yonder, Gone with the Wind, full skirted women decked out in gloves and hats drinking tea and pretty much anything else you would usually associate finely dressed women with. It makes me feel feminine every time I don it and so it should.
Lucky me was sent two lace featured abayas this week to review. The first of which you see here from The Abaya Company - a Dubai based label that custom makes their creations to not only your exact fit and desires, but also to your fabric and colour selection. I went with the default blue behind black lace for the sole reason that I'm more than slightly vain and blue suits me.
I got it sent in my size but it currently doesn't fit exactly right in the tummy region due to the fact that I have a rather small human swimming around in there for the next two months. I swear if I tried this abaya on in a few more weeks I'm pretty sure I would bust through it Hulk style, lol. It's very comfy thanks to the slightly stretchy material but needless to say, I can't wait to wear it out after I give birth and deflate. To get a better idea of how loose it can be on a non-pregnant lady, check out The Abaya Company's pic here.
With it's big, wide, loose sleeves and fabric tie-around belt this abaya gives a nod to the kimono without going overboard and making me feel like a Japanese wannabe. I love the sleeves. I usually go for the fitted type that I can push up my arms but this extra wide/loose style is so damn elegant and girly that I can't help but love it.
Not to over do on the look, I kept accessories at a minimum.
Two simple entwined necklaces and an old jade & silver ring.
Dressed up with some grey and black bauble heels. The cute lace runner along the hem adds to the girly gorgeousness.
Cuteness.
