I have a penchant for patterns. Always have, always will. There is something exciting about them that continues to draw me in whether I'm looking at a piece of art (Hello, Jackson Pollock... or as my friend likes to call him "my boyfriend" because I get so excited about his abstract work) or a piece of clothing. They make viewing more fun. It is as simple as that. The Love to Dress design Australian label SORA sent me nicely fits into this little visual love affair of mine.

I was meant to take some really cool photos of this on my recent holiday to Malaysia but it never ended up happening. It was so hot over there that the idea of taking many photos in the grueling, sweaty heat just turned me off blogging anything once we hit Kuala Lumpur (photos of which shall be shown later). I was literally having multiple showers and clothing changes each day just to feel somewhat comfortable. Australia gets really hot in summer and is of similar temperature as Malaysia but the difference between our two countries is that Australia's heat is dry while Malaysia's heat is that sticky, wet tropical hotness that makes you want to curl up into a ball and drown yourself in a pool of melting ice. Never has a cold shower been so welcoming.

The dress, once tried on back in Oz's burgeoning summer, I found to be perfectly suited to the current weather. The material is a good lightweight cotton and is so breezy and cooling. I'm getting sick of the synthetic fabrics used in most clothing nowadays. They suck in summer. Bonus points for this dress having a lining.

I ended up taking pics over two days (hence the two different shoes used).

I bought these shoes a few years ago now from Myer. I instantly adored their old timey look. They remind me so much of the character folk dancing shoes I had back in the days I did ballet (a more grown up version anyway). Thy are also slightly Wicked Witch of the Westish, which I love.

I feel like their should be an "Cousin Fatima's wedding. Iran, 1972" caption on the pic below, lol. Too much filter. Don't take your pics at night, kids.

A change of heels and venue... I love these damn shoes. They have to be my favourite, even though they turn me into a ten foot tall freak of nature. Boost me up, baby... the higher the better.

The cape is one that billows - it's very loose and matches perfectly with the hue of the dress. Both items were sent to me by SORA (at different times). At the moment the Inayah brand (where the cape is from) is 40% off while the dress brand is 30%. So if you are interested in either offerings make sure you pop on over to the SORA website and grab yourself a designer bargain before the sale ends. P.S: Free shipping for Australian orders!

My baby boy... the perfect accessory ما شاء الله.

The perfect length for tall women. I used to order all dresses and abayas to cover my feet à la Khaleeji style but find the shoes on show so much more feminine. Plus what is the point of owning cute heels and never seeing them?!
