I've had this song in my head all day since hearing it on the radio this morning. Pretty appropriate considering I feel like a giant shiny disco ball in this abaya and when you are a massive bling lover like I am, it's always a good thing. Going for a nude, lightly glittered manicure today also helped it along. Anyway, on to the abaya...
I was sent this gorgeous abaya from NA Exclusive Abayas for review. There were literally over a hundred designs to choose from but after searching through the multitudes and narrowing my list down from about twenty finalists, I kept going back to this one because it is simple, elegant and can be worn at any age.
I'm at the point in my life when fun, young looking designs have to be carefully considered. I'm trying to go for more mature, classic pieces that I can wear well into my thirties when that comes around in a few years time; hence me going for this elegant and very sophisticated abaya. I feel I can float around in this formal style piece for many years to come as I plan to grow old gracefully while staying away from anything too "young" and "mutton dressed up as lamb" as we say here. I don't actually go shopping that much, so from now on anything I do get my hands on has to have a certain classic and enduring style to it, which this abaya certainly has.
NA Exclusive Abayas do produce their own designs while making those inspired by current abaya designers. It is a great alternative to have, especially for those of us who can't afford those huge designer price tags of $800+ and/or don't have access to our own abaya tailors as they readily do in the Gulf.

The black sequins cross over the body in a unique way, being secured by a belt that is hidden on the inside. The belt is not only functional but handy for me right now because being six months pregnant means I can loosen and expand the abaya as my pregnancy goes along.
Not only that, but I finally have a blinged out, sparkly abaya to wear to formal type events. I now just need somewhere awesome to go to for dinner where I can show both this and my new YSL clutch off. I'm obviously thinking somewhere a few steps up from a McDonald's drive-thru for a shitty fish burger which has been the extent of my outings lately. Yeah, I'm getting old and boring like that.
Oh, just remembered Eid is supposed to be next week. Guess I have my perfect outfit ready :)

This abaya costs $175 and is made from good quality nidah fabric which is renown for being lightweight and durable while giving off that slinky, luxurious feel. It also came with a matching hijab but I chose to exclude it from my photos in order to properly show off the glittery neckline.
The design includes a draping waterfall aspect to the back of the abaya, which means your backside is always covered in one of the current, most up-to-date abaya styles coming out of the Khaleej region. I now have three waterfall abaya designs hanging up in my closet and they are the ones I get the most comments on thanks to their unique, feminine design. It helps that all of the abayas I have seen sold in Australia are the generic A-line fit, so anything that is more creative in design always gets attention for being that extra bit different to the norm. I'm sure in places like Dubai, these style of abayas are as common as salt & pepper, but here it is a totally different thing.
I don't have any complaints about this abaya. Love the fabric, adore the style and treasure the fact that I finally have an abaya I can wear to night time special events without relying on tiny bits of jewellery to do all the shimmering for me.

Abaya ~ NA Exclusive Abayas {$175}
Check out N A Exclusives Facebook page for more of what they offer. They are constantly updating their stock so it is well worth a look. You can find the piece I chose here amongst a plethora of other waterfall cuts. The lovely Nadia made me this design exactly to me specified measurements and gave me a huge range of colours to choose from (hot pink, green, red... basically anything I wanted) but I went for the black sequins so it would co-ordinate with any accessories I threw at it. All of her productions can be custom made, including size, colour and fabric so she can re-create pretty much any design you wanted.
I definitely recommend her services. Can't utter a single complaint regarding this abaya!

What do you think about the abaya? Would you wear one?
