Review - Amirah Fashions Bohemian Jilbab

Let me start off by saying that these last few weeks have really done my head in. I think I have spent nearly every weekend trapped indoors because my toddler keeps picking up a new illness every week from the cesspit of a daycare she goes to. Last week it was constant vomiting throughout the night that made me cancel all my weekend plans. Then during the week that followed I picked it up and was spewing uncontrollably. Lovely, I know. This weekend it was baby diarrhea time. Nothing says "joy" more than changing nappies at least every hour. It's been horrible for both of us.

To finish it all off this morning my daughter decided she hated my computer and beat it down gangster style by throwing a cup at it. A cup full of water. Destroyed everything. My laptop won't even turn on. It's basically up shit creek without a paddle and so are all the pictures I took yesterday for today's review. So in a mad rush to finally get this piece uploaded, I had to redo everything this morning and then fix it up on my husband's Mac which was an exercise in itself because Macs are basically in another language to me. I can't figure them out.

Ah, anyways...

I have reviewed for Amirah Fashions before when Zainab sent me this very awesome beige jersey abaya that was a hit with many readers who went ahead and purchased it after seeing my review. This time I have my hands on a new abaya from their collection - a black stretchy piece (the Bohemian pull-in-waist jersey jilbab) that funnily enough goes perfectly with this giant stomach that is hiding another baby inside of it. I'm currently somewhere around my seventh month of pregnancy (I think - I've lost count) and am feeling/looking it. This abaya helped fit me in without any kinda of awkwardly tight squeezing and helped out in the back area of the garment due to it's fantastic loose and drapey design. The only area it isn't doing too well on me is the bust - it fits comfortably fine but with that ever increasing bust size preggos like me go through, it does mean I have to wear a scarf over my chest to make sure I don't look like I'm carrying a duo pack of airbags around my neck.

The pleated section in the front also helps to minimise the baby bulge as well. It's pretty much perfect for a maternity dress, even though it's not meant to be one.

Also... fitted, push-up-able sleeves. My joy in abayas. It also has a bit of a batwing design to the upper section of the arms which helps hide numerous unwanted areas.

Check out the cute bohemian-esque buttons on the waist line. They're a nice added touch.

The abaya also includes a hidden inner belt to adjust the waist as you so please.
