So by now I have quite a few different kaftans from different designers hanging up in my closet by I have to say that this piece is by far my favourite. It is quite similar in design to the Kardashian orange one I reviewed last year which was my former favourite until this Yara Yosif piece came along.
It's the colour. Emerald green has got to be my favourite colour. I hardly ever wear it because finding green clothes actually isn't too common so most people would assume it was pink (I do buy a lot of it) but when I do find it I latch on like a dog with a bone. It's regal in hue and of course harkens back to my Irish roots of the old Emerald Isle.
Offset by elaborate white-silver stones that surround large emerald teardrop shaped jewels and delicate golden bronze hued bling, this piece is stunning. I know nowadays people overuse that word to the point where they will call anything somewhat attractive "stunning" when in reality it is barely average, but this gown deserves nothing less than the true and proper meaning of the word. I'm pretty sure the words that came out of my mouth when I opened the package Yara Yosif sent me was "Are you effing kidding me?!" because it was so damn beautiful. Even the full length satin green lining could be a dress on its own. I had just the slip on when my husband made a comment about liking the dress. I had to tell him I wasn't finished yet as I slipped on the actual kaftan and permanently blinded him with bling.
I wish it was socially acceptable to wear glamorous kaftans every day, everywhere. I'm going to have to wait until someone gets married (invite me?) or has a party (no one I know has parties) or go to a formal community event (which I hardly ever do) to really get good wear out of this gorgeous kaftan. I'd only ever wear it with my silver crystal embellished heels because there is no way you could really wear any other colour with this design. No need for heavy jewellery either - I just went with an antique silver and emerald ring to keep the focus on the dress. There's no need to go overboard with accessorising.
The fit is flowy (as you can see below) and easily slips over your head. It is not figure hugging at all although there are fabric ties on the back of the hidden slip. Sizing is a one-fits-all affair while the kaftan is very long so if you are on the shorter side of life you will have to hem it up a tad, but for tall women it is perfect and then some. Side note - don't let your kids near it. Or cats. Or anything that is attracted to bright, shiny things.
Needless to say I love, adore and am obsessed with it, etc. You get the point.
